Tom Freeman was born in Dorset, England but moved to Edinburgh when he was only four years old. He had an interest in performance from a very young age. He joined Edinburgh Youth Theatre at 13, and went on to play 'Nicholas Nickleby' with Scottish Youth Theatre in 1991. He then studied acting for three years at Glasgow's Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, where he received a scholarship to study at the International Stage Of Commedia D'ell Arte in Italy. Since then he has demonstrated a versatility in his professional career, which has included presenting, driving the famous 'Casualty' ambulance, and theatre roles ranging from a selection of small animals to several Shakespearean roles!
Tom has frequently displayed a political sensitivity through his work. He often supports community and 'guerilla' film makers, including Edinburgh based 'Itchycoo pictures'. He is also a founding member of the 'Edinburgh People's Festival', which runs alongside Edinburgh's big commercial festivals. He organised and compered their cabaret night for two years, and directed the play 'Broon Sauce' by Cecilia Grainger in 2003, which was performed at Woodburn miner's club Dalkieth by his theatre company ADEPT.
Tom spends his time between Edinburgh and London, and his pastimes include writing, walking his dog Pete, and going to see his beloved Hibernian FC. He has always indicated his great ambition is to appear in a science fiction film!
